Helen Vine is a UK-based actress & writer working on stage, screen and radio.
Born and raised in Brighton, Helen performed as a child at the Brighton Dome with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Leeds Castle with Karl Jenkins, and toured to Prague and Brugge with the Brighton Festival Youth Choir (dir. Juliet Pochin).
Helen studied English and Drama at the University of East Anglia before moving to London to train at the London School of Dramatic Art. She then went on to train with the Royal Shakespeare Company and at Pinewood Studios.
Helen has performed nationally; theatres include Leicester Square Arts Theatre, The Soho Theatre, The Brighton Fringe, Barons Court Theatre & The Carriageworks, Leeds. Helen was featured voice talent in the 2018 blockbuster movie Tomb Raider and starred in an award-winning sci-fi short film, Roadside Oddities. Other screen appearances include the Discovery Channel and a BBC 1 Drama/ Documentary directed by John O-Kane.
Helen has narrated audiobooks for Audible, Penguin, Usborne and HarperCollins. She was cast by Dawn O’Porter to narrate her autobiographical novels ‘Paper Aeroplanes’ & ‘Goose’.
Helen has produced an award-nominated series of radio drama monologues ‘Talking Taboos’.
Helen has featured on BBC Radio 1’s Life Hacks Podcast, BBC Radio Norfolk and The Honest Actors’ Podcast.
Helen has recently acted in a drama for BBC Radio 4 and filmed a short with the BFI.
Helen is also a poet and is currently working on her first collection with Hollie McNish. She was BBC Radio Norfolk’s Friday Night Poet In Residence for the month of June. To check out her poetry follow her on Instagram.
Helen has been working with Maureen Beattie and Equity as a spokeswoman and a published writer for the Agenda For Change campaign and has been interviewed by The Stage, appeared on ITV news and on a BBC 2 current affairs panel with Rebecca O’Brien and Amanda Nevill of the BFI discussing their set of guidelines for making the industry a safe place to work.
